Day 1 – Victoria, BC

14 June 2018

Another epic journey started today. The Trans Canada Trail (or Great Trail) is some 24,400km across, up and down this magnificent country. Our plan is to tackle it – by bike and kayak – in pieces.
Day 1 today was a short post-Graduation ceremony leg from the Pacific Ocean’s Clover Point in Victoria along the Galloping Goose Trail, named for an old steam train that once ran these lines. Mostly urban (including some noisy Highway 1 construction), but some pretty wildflowers and lovely wooden bridges along the way. Tomorrow the real effort starts …

Distance today: 17.6km

Distance remaining: Too much
