Day 58 – Annapolis Royal – Digby, NS

33km

Our shortest day on the trail, and it felt like a holiday.

We skipped between a lovely and peaceful – if rough – trail and up-down shoulder-less Route 1 from Annapolis Royal through Clements and Cornwallis Park on to the charming village of Digby with its scallop boats moored in the harbour.

The short ride in to Digby was designed to give us the afternoon for a boat trip out on the Bay of Fundy to experience the world’s biggest tides.

But the whale-watching boats had all gone out already and the only charter boat company had shut up shop for the season. It’s only 2 September and 29 deg C!

Instead of getting out on the bay, we wandered around, ate lunch and drank local cider, did more laundry, drank more local cider, sampled the world famous Digby scallops and finished dinner by 5.30pm. We then retired to deck chairs on the shore to watch the tide and plan tomorrow.
